Welcome To Sri Shirdi Sai Samaj

Temple Anniversary 6th and 7th February Every Year

Sri  Shirdi Sai Samaj has completed 75 years of humble and dedicated service in the cause of the life, mission and teachings of Sri Sai baba, the wondrous Saint of Shirdi. The Samaj stands for higher values in life, like faith in God, truth (which interprets mind, word and deed) dedicated to humanity in all its vibrations of life and above all for the chanting of the divine name.

During the early fifties, apart from the blessings and guidance of His Holiness, Shri Narasimha Swamji, the Samaj had the privilege of the association of H.H. Shri Saipadananda Radhakrishna Swamiji, the then Vice President of the All India Sai Samaj of Madras, to lead our Samaj in its religious and spiritual activities until he founded his ashram. It was at this time when the Samaj built up its strength of devotees.

The Samaj aims to stride through spiritual propaganda and service for national and emotional interregional, inculcating in the minds of one and all, the spirit of unity among fellow beings and above all, co-ordinate with all devotees in a true spirit of divinity and service for common good.

It is for the realization of the foregoing, that the Samaj was started in a small place in one room in Vyshya Hostel (function choultry) at Ibrahim Sahib Street, Parallel to Commercial Street Bangalore, in the year 1942. The devotion continued relentlessly for about 2½ decades and finally for the realization of the foregoing, that the Samaj decided to go for its own Mandir. The devotees decided to go for collections in order to construct its own Mandir and were able to procure the site at Someshwarapura during 1968. On 15/11/1970, the foundation stone for our Mandir was laid by H.H. Shri Saipadananda Radhakrishna Swamiji. A small hall was put up and a modest Mandir was inaugurated during July 1971 by Shri Dhamaveera, the then Governor of Karnataka in the august presence of Shri Saipadananda Radhakrishna Swamiji.

The activities of the Samaj were continued and on a very modest scale, all these years and in the middle of 1980, the organizers of Sri Shirdike Sai Baba Mandir joined us in our efforts to construct an imposing Mandir and to install a life-size marble statue of Sri Sai Baba. It is their unrelenting devotion to Sri Sai Baba that has borne fruit in getting this Mandir constructed with an elegant architectural design, aesthetics and harmony. The Mahakumbhabhishekam of the temple and the consecration of the new life-size marble idol of Sri Sai Baba was conducted as per vedic rites from 4" February 1986 to 7" February 1986

The Samaj proposed a service programme based on the life, mission and teachings of Sri Sai Baba in the years to come. It had also proposed to run a free medical centre to alleviate the sufferings of the poor and the needy. A few Doctors who are already members of the Samaj came forward voluntarily to associate themselves with this venture. The Samaj also proposed to enter other possible areas of social and community services for the betterment of the poor, the sick, the downtrodden and the hungry. We are confident that His blessings would enable us to renew our activities with great fervour and enthusiasm than ever and reach our contemplated goals. Faith is ageless and eternal and we cannot claim that we have done enough but if posterity acclaims that we have done our best in reintegrating our split personality and in leading ourselves and others in the path of reverence based on spiritual reason and revelation, then we can justly feel satisfied that our humble but sincere efforts have not been in vain. On this momentous occasion at the inauguration of the Mandir, we invoke the blessings of Almighty God, the blessings of Sri Sai Baba and above all, the blessings of the Acharyas to bestow on us greater opportunities to serve God and humanity than ever. May the Saint of Shirdi bestow on one and all, His eternal blessings for a sathvic life and shanthi!

The Samaj has already drawn up a massive programme of services to the poor and the needy, in tune with the Life, Mission and Teachings of Sri Sai Baba. A free medical centre to alleviate the sufferings of the poor was initially commissioned and was functioning on Sundays with a team of doctors who voluntarily came forward to associate themselves, till we opened the Outpatient department of our Charitable hospital. It has always been a long cherished desire of all, that we should create a modern medical facility to serve the poor and the needy and in fact, very clos should create a mere are two or three pockets of poor and underprivileged with over 2,000 families who are living below the poverty level with absolutely no resource the afford proper medical treatment. The then Chief Minister, Shri S. Bangarappa laid the foundation stomedical due storey building for a multi-facility hospital at the leasehold sites 1992. Apped one for a four storey buvout public for contributions to the hospital. Donations came poupeals were made to the devout letic and spacious building was conceive outpatient depar and a very modern open to the public in October 1995. The building is now ready for expansion

complement of well qualified medical and para-medical staff. We are now presently of clinical, medical and other facilities. focussing our total attention on the establishment of the medical facilities immediately, with The outpatient department of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Charitable Hospital is now providing free edical attenti department of Sri Shirdi Samedicines for over 120 patients a day, with a full the following specialities:

  • Dental Care
  • An Ophthalmic Clinic
  • ENT Department
  • A Mini-operation Theatre
  • X-ray and Radialogy
  • A full-fledged Pathological Laboratory

On a rough estimate, the Samaj may need a minimum of 5 lakhs rupees for meeting the monthly running expenses and overheads of the hospital. We have set ourselves on this quest towards the goal of providing medical relief to the poor, the downtrodden and the needy with absolute faith on Sri Sai Baba, our Master. We are sure of continuing this journey from success under his benign grace. Subsequently, the opposite house (presently Dharmashala) was purchased from a devotee and had served the purpose of Kitchen for Daily prasada, Annadhana and administrative office of the Samaj. The Samaj with its untiring efforts had also purchased the lease-hold land of hospital and have an hospital of its own in the heart of the city very close to the Mandir with the latest medical facilities like

  • General Medicine
  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Paediatrics
  • Orthopaedics
  • Ophthalmology
  • Cataract surgery (opth)
  • Pathology
  • Ultrasound scan
  • X-ray & Radiology
  • Dental surgery & oral hygiene
  • Physiotherapy
  • Treadmill and other facilities

We are proud to state this management committee also conducted the last Kumbhabisheka with complete Aagamashastra and the event went for about a week and culminated with a Gold Kalasa being installed.

Further, we could purchase an useful property at 1" Main Road which stands majestically andis now known as Vidhya Mandir (Kindergarten school).

Again, our untiring efforts to have our Mandir expanded we had put enormous effort in purchasing 2 more properties situated at the left side of the Mandir for a huge expansion in coming days.

We are proud to conduct Pradosha Pooja twice a month with the Shiva Parvathimurthi seated on Nandi which is taken around the Mandir.

We have great pleasure in bringing out this Souvenir with an intense desire to interact with our devotees and members and share our experiences with the divine life of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba.
