Vijaya Dashami / Maha Samadhi

Annadanam, the sacred act of offering food to the hungry, is one of the most revered and significant services provided by Sri Shirdi Sai Samaj. Inspired by the teachings of Sri Sai Baba, who emphasized the importance of feeding the poor and needy, the Samaj has made Annadanam a central part of its mission to serve humanity. This noble initiative is carried out with the belief that feeding the hungry is akin to worshipping the divine, and it embodies the spirit of selfless service and compassion that Sri Sai Baba advocated.

The Annadanam service at Sri Shirdi Sai Samaj has grown over the years, evolving from humble beginnings into a well-organized and impactful program that touches the lives of countless individuals. The Samaj provides daily meals to devotees, the underprivileged, and those in need, ensuring that no one leaves the premises without having a wholesome meal.

Key Aspects of the Annadanam Service

Every day, the Samaj distributes prasada (blessed food) to devotees who visit the Mandir. This tradition is not only a way to honor the divine but also serves as a means of ensuring that everyone who comes to the Mandir receives nourishment. The prasada is prepared with devotion, and great care is taken to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and quality. The daily prasada distribution is a reflection of the Samaj’s commitment to serving both the spiritual and physical needs of the community.
In addition to the daily Annadanam, the Samaj organizes special Annadanam events during religious festivals, special occasions, and community gatherings. These events see large-scale food distribution, with hundreds of people coming together to partake in the sacred meal. Special care is taken to prepare a variety of nutritious and delicious dishes, ensuring that everyone receives a hearty meal. These events also provide an opportunity for the community to come together in a spirit of unity and service.
The Samaj's Annadanam service extends beyond the devotees to reach the poor and needy in the surrounding areas. Recognizing the dire need for food among the underprivileged, the Samaj has made it a priority to provide regular meals to those who cannot afford them. The Annadanam service is available to all, regardless of caste, creed, or religion, embodying the inclusive and compassionate principles of Sri Sai Baba’s teachings.
To support the growing scale of the Annadanam service, the Samaj has developed a well-equipped kitchen and dining area within the Dharmashala premises. The kitchen is staffed by dedicated volunteers and cooks who work tirelessly to prepare meals with love and devotion. The dining area is designed to accommodate a large number of people, ensuring that everyone can enjoy their meal in a clean and comfortable environment.
